Expect lots, and there’s much we don’t show on our blog and social media profiles. So if you’re curious, here’s what you can look out for / look forward to…
It all starts even before you arrive, with an Enneagram test that you take online.
We’ll send you the test link and instructions closer to the workshop date, and it’s a “don’t think, just click” test. On a scale of 1 to 5, from strongly disagree to strongly agree, there are 180 randomised questions, tailored to our local context.
180 questions?? Yes.
Remember: don’t think, just click.
We’re different from the get-go, because:
- any free test that’s only 25 questions long isn’t going to get proper results,
- if you’re taking a test from overseas, it isn’t tuned to the local context,
- a randomised set of questions means you can’t memorise your answers to redo the test, to get a specific Type, and
- with 180 questions, it’s less likely that you’ll try to get the “right” answer, and more likely to give the real answer.
We all know how to give the “right” answer when we’re faced with a test. We’ll declare ourselves neater and more detail-oriented, while being less chaotic and anxious. And it’s possible to fake these results consistently for a test when it’s short, or we think we know that they’re looking for.
In this test, there is no right or wrong. Go with what you think reflects you, and let the questions do their job.
Don’t worry about the results or if you’re most likely the Type or not, you’ll only find out when you’re in the workshop, and you can judge for yourself whether it’s true to you. Or not, the key is to keep an open mind and explore.
We’ll say it in the workshop, and we’ll say it again here: There is no test, no coach, no trainer that can tell you, definitively, what Enneagram Type you are. Because only you know your motivations.
Why do the test then? Because it teases out the most likely Type, so that you have somewhere to begin your journey. It still doesn’t define you as a person.
In the workshop, we start with the fundamentals.
What is the Enneagram?
What are wings and connecting lines?
More importantly, how do they relate to you and how are you supposed to use all this information?
Because you can use it to identify and understand yourself, and you can also use it to understand and connect with people you love, the people you’re surrounded by, and the clients and colleagues you work with.
We believe that no one comes in as their base Type — everyone’s a blend of their Type, wings, connecting lines, and what they’ve had to learn as a result of their life experiences — so we talk about the base Enneagram Types for context, as well as the range and diversity that people show up as.
Results are revealed, and we have panels.
Think Graham Norton Show, Avengers cast interviews, or fan conventions where people come together to share stories that are common amongst them. You’re the expert of your life, and it’s the trainer’s job to facilitate the interaction with questions, and to connect your experiences to your Type.
Why panels?
Because when you’re in the panel, you get a chance to see how you’re both similar and different to people like you (we had quite a few “Ohh so that’s why!!” and “So I’m not the only one?”).
When you’re in the audience, it gives you a first-hand opportunity to see what another Type could be like, and to ask questions to understand them better.
Each Type has their panel over the course of the workshop, and the different lenses of the Types are revealed.
What if there are no participants of a certain Type? It happens, and that’s when our trainer imitates what they could be, and goes through the points of the base Type.
After the workshop, there’s a one-on-one.
Have more questions? Unconvinced about your Type? Want to go through something more personal? Bring it to the one-on-one.
Held over Zoom, it’s the time to clarify your questions with the trainer, and go a little deeper. There are more to your results than just your Type, and you’ll see many other numbers in your report that we can go through.
Again, there’s nothing “right” to get with the scores, so don’t worry if things don’t seem to add up, are high, or low.
We’ll look at your results in detail, and talk about the patterns they might indicate.
Then what?
Then, it’s up to you.
You can take the information you’ve learned to discover more about others (please don’t Type them!) and see if you can connect better.
Some people bring friends, family, co-workers to the next workshop, to have the same context and language to speak to each other with. We’ve had companies reach out to bring their whole team to a session, and we can do that.
Some come back again, and it’s always a different experience because now you see with experience, and each workshop’s panels are composed of different participants.
We’ll keep running workshops through the year, and when there’s enough interest and participants available, we might run a Level 2 Enneagram workshop in the future.
